Shamnoski Gallery is a New York–based gallery dedicated to the preservation and presentation of Postwar and contemporary abstraction. Founded by Matthew Shamnoski, the gallery evolved from Projects 28 and continues its focus on artists and estates whose work defines the broader legacy of mid-century and late-20th-century American painting.

Through long-term relationships with the estates of Herman Cherry, Gertrude Barrer, John Grillo, Jon Schueler, Ilya Bolotowsky, Ralph Wickiser, William Tarr, Salli Zimmerman and contemporary painters Susan Rand and Steven Alexander, the gallery works to reestablish the critical and historical context of artists who shaped these movements yet remain overlooked or underappreciated today.

The gallery’s program spans exhibitions, art fairs, and scholarly initiatives that connect historical work with contemporary audiences and institutions. Its mission is to keep the history and influence of postwar abstraction visible and relevant—rooted in research, authenticity, and the ongoing vitality of these artists’ ideas.
